Dear colleagues,

On behalf of our Scientific Board, we are pleased to announce the international symposium Movement Disorders in Children associated with Neurodegeneration : From Mechanisms to Precision Therapies, which will take place on February 11–12, 2027, in Barcelona.

This international meeting will bring together leading experts in paediatric movement disorders, neurodegeneration, genetics and translational neuroscience, with a particular focus on bridging clinical phenotypes, disease mechanisms and emerging therapies.

The scientific programme will address key topics including:

• Clinical recognition of paediatric neurodegeneration: movement disorders, red flags and disease trajectories
• Molecular diagnosis and disease mechanisms: genomics, multi-omics, mitochondrial and basal ganglia pathways
• Neurodevelopmental, epileptic and treatable metabolic disorders with progressive movement abnormalities
• Biomarkers and trial readiness: neurofilament, transcriptomics, neuroimaging and digital biomarkers
• Precision therapies and advanced interventions: gene therapy, neuroinflammation-targeted treatments, DBS and collaborative networks

Our aim is to strengthen collaboration among clinicians, researchers and other professionals interested in paediatric movement disorders and neurodegenerative diseases, while creating a forum to discuss how advances in molecular diagnosis and disease mechanisms can be translated into biomarkers, clinical trials and precision therapies.
